Jordan and Carmen Nathaniel are Early Childhood Educators who believe that every child, regardless of family income, should have a chance at a Montessori education. With this goal they opened Cardan Montessori Center. Here is their story:
 

When we became parents, we immediately started planning our child's educational future. We were surprised to see how hard it was to find quality care that focused on the skills and needs of the individual child.
For young, low-income parents like ourselves, learning centers with the best curriculum were well over our budget. Relying on government childcare benefits kept us out of Montessori and Reggio learning centers, and other centers that offered a specific or more private education. This is not only unfair, it keeps the poor with the poor and the wealthy with the wealthy. 
Our goal is to open a chain of centers that bring the Montessori Method to underprivileged children in communities across the United States. We have started by opening a small center in our own community. Our centers will accept government benefits, allowing children from lower income brackets to begin their education on the right foot - the Montessori way.
